This office has received a complaint concerning the storage of unlicensed and or
inoperable vehicles on the above described property. The exterior storage of these items
is not allowed under city ordinance and must be removed from the property or repaired
and tabbed so that the vehicles are licensed and roadworthy. The property must be
brought into compliance with city code by October 31, 2006.

Conditions exist on the indicated property which constitute a violation of the following section(s) of the
Orono Zoning Ordinance:
X SECTION 9.50. JUNK CARS, FURNITURE,HOUSEHOLD FURNISHINGSAND
APPLIANCES STORED ON PUBLIC OR PRIVATE PROPERTY.
It is unlawful to park or store any unlicenced, unregistered or inoperable motor vehicle lacking
essential parts, household furnishings or appliances, or parts or components thereof, on any
property,public or private,unless housed within a lawfully erected building. Any violation of this
Section is declared to be a nuisance and upon seven days written notice to the owner,as shown by
the records in the office of the County Auditor, of private premises on which such material is
found, the City may remove the same and certify the cost of such removal as any other special
assessment. For the purpose of this Section, an inoperable motor vehicle shall be defined as
lacking, including but not limited to, parts essential to operation, such parts being wheels, tires,
motor, drive train, battery, or having two or more flat tires, or having the interior, including the
driver's position, used for storage in such a manner that no person can operate the vehicle.

SECTION 9.55. MAINTENANCE OF PRIVATE PROPERTY.
SUBD.1. It is the duty of the owner of every vacant property and the owner and occupant of every occupied properry
to maintain same in a neat,clean and presentable manner free of any junk,debris,refuse,litter,dead trees,or noxious
weeds, and to remove all other public health or safety hazards therefrom.
SUBD.2. Grass and Weeds. The owner or occupant of every lot or parcel shall regularly
cut or otherwise maintain all grass and weeds thereon at a height of not more than six(6) inches.
SUBD.3. Any violation of this section is declared to be a nuisance and public safety and welfare hazard and upon
seven days written notice to the o�ti�er,as shown by the records of the office of the County Auditor, of private
premises on which such material is found or any conditions in violation of this code section exist, the City may
remove the same or correct any conditions in violation,and certify the cost of such removals or corrections as any
other special assessment.
Please take action to comply with the above ordinance requirement(s) by September 29. 2003
A follow-up inspection will be made at that time to verify compliance.

Dear Mr. Umbehoker:
Un March 15 , 1992, this office again notified you of violations on
your property at 3860 Shorelin� Drive. In reviewing the file, I find
these same complaints go back to 1976 on this property. Therefore,
the City has no alternative but to issue the enclosed ci.tation for the
storage of unlicensed/inoperable vehicles. The records also reveal
that your operation has never had a conditional use permit approval.
T have enclosed the permit application for your review. The City will
require that you submit the application befare June 8, ].992. If this
deadl.ine is not met, the City will proceed with a formal complaint

- Subd. 1. Definitions. The terms "mobile home" and
"recreational camping vehicle" shall mean and include the following
definitions, and shall not include any manufactured housing unit
bearing a State of Minnesota Manufactured Housing seal or
certificate.
A. "Travel Trailer " - A vehicular , portable
structure built on a chassis, designed to be used as a temporary
dwelling for travel, recreational, and vacation uses, permanently
identified "Travel Trailer" by the manufacturer of the trailer.
B. "Pick-up Coach" - A structure designed to be
mounted on a truck chassis for use as a temporary dwelling for
travel, recreation and vacation.
C. "Motor Home" - A portable, temporary dwelling to
be used for travel, recreation and vacation, constructed as an
integral part of a self-propelled vehicle.
D. "Camping Trailer" - A folding structure, mounted
on wheels and designed for travel, recreation and vacation uses.

Dear Mr Oman; �
Each day as I drive Shoreline Blvd I note with increasing
concem the collection of seemingly junk or inoperative cars and
boats parked around the business at 3860 Shoreline Blvd. Yesterday
I counted 25, some of which have been there for a long, long time.
The entire property approximates in appearance a poorly kept junk
yard. This on the shore of one of the most beautiful lakes in
Minnesota is, to me, unacceptable.
Orono has distinguished itself as a community that cares about
the environment, wishing to maintain insofar as possible the pristine
appearance of the land within its borders. The state of this property
seems to be a very loud contradiction of �this policy. I feel that
something must be done to clean up this disorderly area.

SEC. 9.55. MAINTENANCE OF PRIVATE PROPERTY.
Subd. 1. ° It is the duty of the owner of every vacant property and the
owner and occupant of every occupied property to maintain same in a
neat, clean and presentable�manner free of any junk, debris, refuse,
litter, dead trees, or noxious weeds, and to remove all other public
health or safety hazards therefrom. ,
Subd. 2. Grass and Weeds. The owner or occupant of every lot or
parcel shall regu larly cut or otherwise maintain al 1 grass and weeds
thereon at a height of not more than six (6) inches. �
Please take action to comply with the above ordinance requirement(s) by
March 10, 1992. A follow-up inspection will be made at that time to verify

Dear Mr Oman;
Each day as I drive Shoreline Blvd I note with increasing
concern the collection of seemingly junk or inoperative cars and
boats parked around the business at 3860 Shoreline Blvd. Yesterday
I counted 25, some of which have been there for a long, long time.
The entire property approximates in appearance a poorly kept junk
yard. This on the shore of one of the most beautiful lakes in
Minnesota is, to me, unacceptable.
Orono has distinguished itself as a community that cares about
the environment, wishing to maintain insofar as possible the pristine
appearance of the land within its borders. The state of this property
seems to be a very loud contradiction of this policy. I feel that
something must be done to clean up this disorderly area.
