Subject: FW:WAYZATA, MN- Pole sign-3574 Shoreline Drive
Good Morning Tom,
I have been working with Carol at persona regarding the proposed signage changes at 3574 Shoreline Drive.
The current pylon sign at 3574 Shoreline Drive is a legal, non-conforming sign. The City does not allow new pylon signs
to be created,therefore the sign can be replaced in-kind,or smaller—within the exact same envelope of the existing
signs(logo and reader board). As proposed the new logo "swooshes" extend beyond the envelope of the existing logo
on the pylon. Also,the reader board is smaller, but needs to with within the same envelope (distance vertically). See
page 4 of 4 of the attachment from Persona. Also attached you will find a copy of proposed signs showing the areas of
the sign that extend beyond the existing envelope. We are not able to administratively permit the pylon sign as
proposed.
Please advise if you would like us to proceed in reviewing the new proposed wall sign.
If you would like to proceed with updating the pylon sign as proposed you will need to apply for a variance. The
variance application fee is$700 and a $700 escrow. The escrow is refunded after the variance request is
complete. Attached is the variance application. Please note the council has shown interest in modifying the sign code,
but there is no set timeline as to when that is expected to happen.
The upcoming deadlines for variance submittals are Wednesday,January 18, 2017 or February 22, 2017. Applications
are due at Noon.

I have received the revised renderings of the pole sign showing the perspective you requested per our phone
conversation.As you may note in the email below,the perspective is off a bit because of the angle the photo was taken.
The top sign does fit a bit differently into the existing cabinet.The "swooshes" as we call them, do go outside the
existing cabinet a bit, but the new cabinet is not as wide as the existing one.The reader board was shown down farther
on the pole than the existing one, but as you can see it is smaller than what is already there.
Please let me know what we are going to be allowed to do.
