Type of data. 'Ihe rights of individual on whom[he data is stored or ro be sto�ed shall be as set forth in this secdon. Subd.2. Information reqirired to be given individual. An individual asked W supply private or confidendal data conceraing himself shail be informed of: (a)the purpose and intended use of the ceqaesced data wirhin rhe collecang§tate agency,polidcal svbdivision,or sratewide rystem; (b)whether he may refuse oY is legaUy cequired to supply the requesud data;(c)any Irnown consequence arising from his supplying or refusing to supply private or confidenaal data;and(d)the idendry of ocher pecsons or enrides authorized by state or fedecal law to receive the data. This requirement shall not apply when an individual is asked to supply iavestigadve data,pursuant to secdon 13.82,subdivision 5,to a law enfoccement o�cer. Access to dat�by individual. Upon requesc to a responsible auehoriry,an individual shall be informed whether he is the subject of stored data on individuals,and whe[her it is class�ed as public,private or confidendal. Upon his fur[her request,an individual who is the subjecc of stored private or public dara on individuals shall be shown the dara wirhout any charge W him and;if he desires,shall be informed of the content and meaning of chat dara. After an iadividual hac been shown the privace data and informed of its meaning,the data need not be disclosed to him for suc months thereafter unless a dispute or acdon punuanc to this secaon is pending or addiaonal data on the individual has been collected or creared. The responsible authoriry shall provide copies of the private or public data upon requesc by the individual subject of rhe data. The responsible authoriry may require the requesring person to pay the actual cosu of making,certifying,aad compiling the copies. The responsible authority shall comply immediately,if passible,wi[h any request made pursuant to this subdivision,or within five days of the date of the request,ezctuding Saturdays,Sundays and legal holidays,if immediate compliance is not possibte. Subd.4. Procedure when data is not accurate or camplete. An individual may contest the accucacy or completeness of public or pri�•ate dara conceming himseif. To exercise this right,an individual shall nodfy in wridng the responsible authoriry describing�he nature of the disagreement. The responsible authoriry shall within 30 days either: (a)correct the data found ro be inaccurau or incomplete and aaempt to nodiy past recipienu of inaccucate or incomplete dara, including recipients named by�he individual;or(b)notify the individual thac he believes the data to be correct. Data in dispute shall be disclosed only if the individual's statemenc of disagreement is included with the disclosed dara. The decerminadon of the responsible authoriry may be appealed puauant to the provisions of the adaunistrarive procedure act relating to contesced cases.
