3. Escrow 8� Escrow Agreement. Permits involving grading and/or review by the City's engineer require
submittal of an escrow and an escrow agreement. The purpose of the escrow is to guarantee
/ reimbursement to the City for out-of-pocket costs incurred during the review of your plans. Additionally
V� this escrow will guarantee conformance with City Code Chapter 79 relating to erosion control and
stormwater. The required escrow amount for this project is $2,500. The escrow agreement is enclosed.
The property owner must sign the escrow agreement and submit a check for$2,500.
Your project may trigger the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District's (MCWD) permitting requirements; please
contact the MCWD regarding your project. Please note, the City of Orono will not issue a building permit without
_ (1� a copy of the MCWD permits or documentation from the MCWD stating the proposed project does not trigger any
�� of their permitting requirements. The above information is required in order for the plan review to continue.

Dear Cleary:
In response to your request, we have carried out the structural engineering that you have
requested: we have determined the steel beam size required ta support the roof and floor
system of the residence identified above. We have based our design upon (4) page
remodeling plan, drawn by Joe's Drafting and Design and dated 5/15/13, which you
provided to us as well as information that you gave us over the phone.
Our design follows the requirements of the Minnesota State Building Code and the
International Residential Code, 2006 edition. This includes a roof snow load of 35 psf, a
total roof dead load of 20 psf,a floor live load of 40 psf, and a total floor dead load of 15
psf. We have interpreted the beam loading circumstances, based upon the information
that you provided us with,as follows:
• The steel beam will have clear spans of 20'-0"and 17'-0"as shown on the
enclosed detail on page 3 of 6 of this report.
• T'he steel beam will support one end of the exisring floor joists spanning a
maximum of 16'-0"which must be field verified.
• The said steel beam also supports one end of the deck joists / roof joists
spanning 10'-0". The deck joists are assumed to have a maximum dead
load of 15 psf.

• The said steel beam also supports the second story eYterior w�all.
• The said steel beam also supports one end of the roof trusses with a span
of 34'-0".
Based upon the criteria previously described, we have determined that a W l Ox45 A992
grade �0 steel beam will be adequate to support the loads identified abn��e.
The calculated reaction at each end of the steel beam is 14660 lbs. This load must be
transfened to the foundation with an HSS Sx�x3/l6 steel column as shown on the
enclosed detail on page 5 of 6 of this report. The calculated reaction at the interior steel
beam is 34,670 lbs and must be transferred to the foundation with an HSS Sx5x3/16 steel
column as shown on the enclosed detail on page 4 of 6 of this report. The calculated live
load detlection is 0.32"and the calculated total load deflection is 0.54''.
Our involvement in the design of this structure is limited to the individual members
addressed and specified in this report. The steel beam and columns have been designed
to support vertical loads only. All brace wall and/or horizontal w�ind resisting
requirements remains the responsibility of others. All other engineering and desi�n
remains the responsibility of others.

BUILDING PERMIT ESCROW AGREEMENT
Orono Building Permit#2013-00382
AGREEMENT made this �`'"� day of � � , 20�, by and between the CITY OF ORONO,
a Minnesota municipal corporation ("City") Michael Steward 8� Robin Staloch ("Owners").
Recitals
1. A building permit application has been filed for an addition located at 2080 Shoreline Drive the
("Subject Property"), legally described as Lot 7, Block 1, Hartwood, Hennepin County Minnesota.
2. Owners request the City to review this application.
3. The City will commence its review of the application and incur costs associated with said review
only if the Owner establishes an escrow to ensure reimbursement to the City of its costs.
NOW THEREFORE,THE PARTIES AGREE AS FOLLOWS:
1. DEPOSIT OF ESCROW FUNDS. Contemporaneously with the execution of this Escrow
Agreement, the Owners shall deposit$2,500 with the City. All accrued interest, if any, shall be paid to the City to
reimburse the City for its cost in administering the escrow account.
2. PURPOSE OF ESCROW. The purpose of the escrow is to guarantee reimbursement to the City
for all out-of-pocket costs the City has incurred (including planning, engineering, in excess of $500, or legal
consultant review) or will incur in reviewing the plan. Eligible expenses shall be consistent with expenses the
Owners would be responsible for under a building permit application. The escrow will also guarantee
reimbursement to the City for all out-of-pocket costs the City has incurred to assure that the work is completed in
accordance with the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and the provisions of Orono City Code Chapter 79.
The financial security may also be used by the City to eliminate any hazardous conditions associated with the
work and to repair any damage to public property or infrastructure that is caused by the work (including planning,
engineering, or legal consultant review) associated with building permit #2013-00382 if compliance with the
approved building permit is not accomplished.
3. MONTHLY BILLING. As the City receives consultant bills for incurred costs, the City will in turn
send a bill to the Owners. Owners shall be responsible for payment to the City within 30 days of the Owners'
receipt of bill.
4. DISBURSEMENT FROM ESCROW ACCOUNT. In the event that the Owners do not make payment
to the City within the timeframe outlined in#3 above, shall issue a Stop Work Order until the Owners pay all expenses
invoiced pursuant to #3. The City may draw from the escrow account without further approval of the Owners to
reimburse the City for eligible expenses the City has incurred.
5. CLOSING ESCROW. The Balance on deposit in the escrow, if any, shall be returned to the
Owners when the review has been completed and written notification is received from the Owners requesting the
funds.
6. CERTIFY UNPAID CHARGES. If the project is abandoned by Owners, or if the eligible expenses
incurred by the City exceed the amount in escrow, the City shall have the right to certify the unpaid balance to the
subject property pursuant to Minn. Stat. §§415.01 and 366.012.
