Dear Melanie:
Don DeBaere(Orono Public Works) and I visited the site at 2680 Shadywood Road last week. The site
grading generally agreed with the approved grading plan and is acceptable. However, the following two
items need to be corrected before the City accepts the work:
• The storm pond with the piped outlet to the lake is susceptible to exporting sediments through the
pipe to the lake. The applicant should provide details as to how this potential export of sediments
can be corrected. This may include installing a skimming structure at the pond outlet.
• The pipe installed from the pond under Lafayette Road caused Lafayette Road to heave in a couple
of locations, The applicant will need to repair the damage to Lafayette Road. This work should be
coordinated the Don DeBaere, Orono Street Superintendent.
