Box 86 ��'VpFoRory Crystal Bay, MN 55356 p Dear Mayor White: I met with Steve longman (Home Builder) and lyle Ohman (Orono Building Inspector)Thursday to review the blockage of natural drainage of water from my property because of the raised grade of the property at 2118 Shadywood Road. Mr. longman indicated that someone got carried away and dumped "about 30 truckioads too much dirt" on the site. I respectfully request the natural surface draina�e be restored to what it was when the home at 2118 was built in 1910, and when my home at 2106 was built in 1955. In the 20 years 1 have lived at 2106, I have never had any flooding of water. My concern is that after the construction is done Mr. Longman will no longer be available to correct any water problems caused by blockage of the proposed culvert. Mr. Larssen,the owner of the property at 2118 intends to sell the new home. When he sells it, he won't be available to correct any flooding of my lot. Your Orono City Engineer,Tom Keliogg, has expressed concern that should the proposed culvert become plugged,the natural runoff of water will be dammed, causing the water to pond on my property. Therefore, if the city of Orono allows the proposed culvert to be permitted, i respectfully request that Orono agree to guarantee to protect my interest in writing to correct any blockage of water at no expense to me. Box 86 Orono, MN 55356 Dear Mayor White: I am very concerned the natural drainage of water from my yard may be blocked by the construction of the a home being built by Stephen longman Builders at 2118 Shadywood Rd. South of my home. The raising of the grade about three feet seems to create a dam which I fear will alter the past natural drainage causing future water runoff to pond on my property. The original home at 2118 was built in 1914,and established the grade. I bought my home at 2106 Shadywood Rd. over 20 years ago. Since I have owned my home, I have never had any standing water on my property. I understand the current plan is to put in a culvert and reroute the water runoff from my property to County Road 19.The Orono city engineer has expressed concern that if this cuivert becomes clogged,the water runoff wili pond on my lot.A natural surface draina�te seems a better solution allowin�the surface water to run off naturallv unencumbered. If the City approves the current proposed solution utilizing a culvert to drain the water runoff, should this culvert become blocked and water is ponded on my lot, l respectively request written guarantees from the City of Orono it wili be corrected at no expense to me, or future owners of my property. Box 86 Crystal Bay, MN 55356 Dear Mayor White: I wish to thank your city officials who have directed the builder of the new home Mr. Stephen longman is buiiding at 2118 Shadywood Road to have, in Mr. Longman's estimation, "an excess of 23 truckloads of dirt fiil" dumped by mistake on the property, be removed. Mr. Lyle Ohman, Orono Building Official, has informed me that the culvert will be eliminated and the water drainage will be returned to a natural surface runoff as it has been since 1910 some 98 years ago when the original home at 2118 Shadywood Rd. was built, and some 53 years ago when my home at 2106 Shadywood Rd. was built in 1955. This wiil eliminate the need for a cuivert which if blocked could have caused flooding of my property. Mr. Tom Keliogg, Orono city engineer has worked in conjunction with Mr. Ohman to develop the current grading plan for the lot at 2118 Shadywood Road.
