Dear Mr. &Mrs. Weiland;
This letter is to confum the City's position on the shared driveway that serves several homes along
the east side of Shadywood Road, south of the lake channel.My understanding is that before 1959
when the channel bridge was replaced, this driveway was part of County Road 19. The road and
bridge were moved further west when the bridge was replaced.Part of the driveway may still be on
County Highway R.ight of Way,and the remainder of the driveway is on private property. The City
of Orono has no road Right of Way in this azea and historically has not provided any maintenance
or repair of this driveway. The City's position is that this is a shared private driveway maintained
and repaired by the residents using it.
