Dear Mr. And Mrs. Ruud:
It has come to the attention of this department that you have recently placed a shed on
your property at the above referenced address. This letter is to notify you that The City of Orono
requires a building permit for sheds.
Therefore The City must require you to submit a permit application with a survey
showing the location of the shed, hardcover calculations and building plans. A review will be
completed and if building and zoning requirements are met a pertnit will be issued. A deadline
of January 13, 2003 has been established for permit application submittal or shed removal. If

RE: Shed
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Ruud:
On February 14, 2003 The City received an After-the-fact Building permit application for a shed
you placed on your property. Due to a setback issue the application was on hold. The issue is
that there are no buildings allowed within 75' of Lake Minnetonka in Orono. The survey you
submitted with the application shows "edge of low ground". However your neighbor's survey
shows the 929.4 high water elevation. This is the elevation that the 75' setback is measured
from. Therefore to determine that your shed is at least 75' from the lake, The City must require
you to have your survey revised to show the 929.4 elevation. If the 75' setback is not met The
City will require you to remove the shed from the property or to move it to a conforming
location. A deadline of February 9, 2004 has been established. If this deadline is not met The
City may initiate legal action.
