Driveway easement
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Wachman,
Your neighbor asked me to clarify what an easement is. An easement gives you
limited right of use of someone else's property. The property is still owned by the
neighbor but you are allowed to use it as the easement sta.tes, for utility, drainage, and
driveway and for the purposes of compliance with the City of Orono's setback
requirement and open space over, under and across. This does not allow you to plant
trees, erect flag poles and garden on the neighbor's property. If you have any questions
about this issue please feel free to contact me at my office, look up easement in the
dictionary or consult with an attorney.
