Thanks for the followup call this morning. I appreciate that you are checking into this for
us.
Knowing you are busy with more than just my issue, I thought I would email just to recap what
e take ahout toda. And also ta exaar on a iFeo iirrgs that didn't hae time to talk
out today.
itie mooedi irrto aur twuse in I►fovr "84. In 'S the ulre^t that uas already er our
driveway was replaced by Orono because the original one had rotted out. After it was
plae in '85,, Orono came an realaced te afer a eeks Decause the ai.pe 'tiy
put in was too small to handle all the water that flows thru that ditch.
The ulrert exder he riea aas arigi, nal to the proerty before e d in. It rotted
out once and perhaps that is what has happened again.
e warte ito replae our criverad, re told Ib ono triat irhe cfy oiF Oron uldr't
allow us to put in a concrete driveway because if Orono needed to replace the culvert they
ld have to break u the rte. 6 aere told ae could use orete bu ulc! haae tv
use either tar or rock approximately 15 feet from the road in case their was problem with the
elewt ad the citao needed to relae i.
We requested to fill in the ditch on both sides of the driveway, not because the ditch was a
rroble ta us, bert becaese the sid+ of tihe r s begiewi to break iF ireita the ditch.
This was resulting in the road becoming more narrow and very precarious for drivers driving
c ite road fror alfers. That ditch as rr an e had a fe cars 6saper
deliverer, a visitor to our house and a neighbor's etc) that ended up in that ditch and
needed to be toue ar. Ius aai te narrr idth v IRest Peirt lae, ars could not pass
on that road. Not to mention the tar that was going into the ditch was washing into the lake
icl rs eneironmetal issue. Because e eaere illir to pay iFor the wbrk ta tae de„
Orono was very willing to give us the pipe that was needed to fill that area in.
oRs I stated, it is frstrat$ng as an 0ra resieent that it seers that uls are diiFiFererrt
for different people. As examples, Lorie Line as been allowed to turn a fire lane or public
aa rrto teer° on, remoe cit signs that esia lhat area as a publi proaert ad ext in
huge arborvitae trees at the edge of her property. Our neighbor on the lake has huge trees
right on tke road an tte han°t been remaed. Ne hae tried to caryp ith eerttirg loou
ask. We removed the dogwood when you asked. We don't complain that the snow plow scrapes
abou fieet irrto our road crery time it ss a onl an ou sidfe of tlhe rc...to isaYce
the road wider which they couldn't do if there was still that ditch there) and it creates a
Ienr ith tlhe grass ee srir.
We wouldn't be requesting this if we hadn't been told that we couldn't put in a concrete
drivea becca+use "if eit needs to replace itie rt_...." und e rouln't be requestirog
this if the culvert hadn't become a major problem.
7hanics again ior your ti.
