RE: Violation Notice on Tree Removal
Dear Mr. Palm:
It has come to the attention of this department that you have recently removed trees and
vegetation on a bluff at the above mentioned property. This letter is to notify you that this is a
violation on City Ordinances. Orono municipal code sections 10.22, Subd 3 and 10.56 Subd 16
(I) prohibits removal of live trees six inches or more in diameter within 75' of the shoreline
without a pertnit, and section 10.56 Subd 16 (I) (2)prohibits intensive vegetation clearing within
75' of the shoreline and on steep scopes in the shore land district.
The purpose of these ordinances is to protect the steep slopes from erosion, to preserve the
wooded nature of the lakeshore and to provide vegetation for screening of building and
development as viewed from the lake. The City must require you to replant th�bank with
similar size trees and vegetation. Please contact the City within the next 7 to 10 days to discuss
options and avoid legal action.
