Certificate of Survey.
a. The retaining Wall depicted next to "F" on survey appears to be 4 ft tall. (TW-949.0 BW-945). Retaining
walls 4 ft tall or greater in height must be engineered. Please provide an engineered design or revise the
plan to reduce the wall height.
b. Engineering notes that will be placed on the issued permit:
1. Extra care should be exercised while conducting earthworks on the North side of the property to
ensure there is not an increase in quantity or rate of runoff onto the neighboring property.
2. The wall on the North side of the property along the future drive (steep) is shown at or very near
the 5-foot setback. Extra care should be exercised while constructing this wall to assure that the
required 5-foot setback is met.
3. A separate utility permit is required for sewer connection/reconnection.
2. Escrow & Escrow Agreement. Permits involving grading and/or review by the City's engineer require
submittal of an escrow and an escrow agreement. The purpose of the escrow is to guarantee reimbursement to
the City for out-of-pocket costs incurred during the review of your plans. Additionally this escrow will guarantee
conformance with City Code Chapter 79 relating to erosion control and stormwater. The required escrow amount
for this project is $2,500 and was paid by you. The escrow agreement is attached. Please have the property
owner sign and return the escrow agreement along with the $2,500 escrow.
3. Minnehaha Creek Watershed District Permits. Your project may trigger the Minnehaha Creek Watershed
District's (MCWD) permitting requirements; please contact the MCWD directly at 952.471.0590 regarding your
project. Please note, the City of Orono will not issue a building permit without a copy of MCWD permits or
documentation from the MCWD stating the proposed project does not trigger any of their permitting
requirements.
Our building official Lyle Oman is currently reviewing the building plans. I wanted to get an email out to you regarding
our initial review and the application status. Please note, Lyle may have additional comments or corrections.
Please contact me with any questions.
Melanie
Melanie Curtis
Direct 952.249.4627
Planning &Zoning Office 952.249.4620
2750 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356
Email: mcurtisCcDci.orono.mn.us
Website: www.ci.orono.mn.us
1
