MINUTES OF THE <br /> ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> Tuesday,May 29,2018 <br /> 7:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> None <br /> PRESENTATION <br /> 15. LIFE SAVING RECOGNITION <br /> Long Lake Fire Chief Van Eyll stated on March 21,2018,the Wayzata Police Department received a call <br /> concerning someone having trouble breathing and asked that the Long Lake Fire Department be paged <br /> once they started CPR. The Long Lake Fire Deparhnent arrived on scene and assisted with CPR. Their <br /> efforts were successful. <br /> The Long Lake Fire Deparhnent would like to recognize the following responders: Deputy Chief of <br /> Administration DJ Goman;Deputy Chief of Training Cody Farley; Fire Caption Chris Adams; Battalion <br /> Chief Shane Gardner; Assistant Chief John Hall; Firefighters Derek Lee, Shaun Rioux,Thomas Aldrich, <br /> Bryan Frank,Ryan Hoster,Blair Mileski,Ben Rasmuson; Wayzata Police Officers Brandon Haapoja and <br /> Andrew Sharratt;North RN Erick Shaft; and North Paramedic Thomas J. Boucher. <br /> Mayor Walsh,on behalf of the City of Orono,thanked the officers for their life-saving efforts. <br /> 14. WESTONKA HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND MUSEUM <br /> Pam Meyers stated she would like to make a donation to the City of Orono on behalf of the Westonka <br /> Historical Society and Museum. Meyers presented a copy of the book"Classroom Voices"to Mayor <br /> Walsh. Meyers stated the book is filled with memories of the children who attended Westonka schools <br /> prior to 1950 and also includes a history of the schools and the formation of the Hennepin County <br /> Consolidated School District in 1915. <br /> Crosby moved,Dankey seconded,to accept the book donation from the Westonka Historical <br /> Society and Museum. VOTE: Ayes 5,Nays 0. <br /> PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER REPORT <br /> 16. EAST LONG LAKE ROAD DISPOSITION—DISCUSSION <br /> Edwards stated Staff is looking to gain guidance from the City Council on the future disposition of East <br /> Long Lake Road and to take public comment. At the present time East Long Lake Road is in an <br /> advanced state of deterioration. <br /> Edwards displayed a number of photographs depicting the condition of the southern and northern portions <br /> of the roadway. The southern 890 feet of the road is included in the 2019 road maintenance plan. <br /> The northern section of the road runs along the eastern shore of Long Lake. Portions of the roadway are <br /> becoming undermined and the pavement is crumbling. The pavement is beyond pothole repair and is <br /> subject to seasonal flooding requiring periodic closures of the roadway. <br /> Notice of tonighYs meeting was sent to the affected property owners and some written comments have <br /> been received. <br /> Page 2 of 11 <br />
