Code violated: Chapter 12, Ordinance 199, Subd. 4, B, 1 c; "A failing ISTS that is discharging sewage to the surface must be connected to municipal sewer within 90 days". Background: This property has had a failing septic system since 1992, (we have documented pictures). At that time they wanted to know if city sewer was an available option. At that time city sewer was not an option. The city gave property owner until the next year to see if city sewer would ever be an option. The septic system was let to slide with several deadlines for action but all of them and passed without any action taken. In 1998 city sewer was available and a deadline of December 31, 1998 was set to get the property hooked up to city sewer. Another letter was sent in February 2000 to get the property hooked up to city sewer by September 1, 2000. The property still has not hooked up to city sewer. Action Requested: I would like you to send this individual a letter stating he has until June 1, 2001 to hook up to municipal sewer. If he is not hooked up by this date legal action will be taken. This violation is an immediate health risk and must be dealt with as soon as possible. Permits must be obtained and a SAC charge of$1150.00 must still be paid.
