at_ivo CITY OF ORONO <br /> RESOLUTION OF TUE CITY COUNCIL <br /> y z' NO. 72 6 <br /> L <br /> gkESH00. <br /> A RESOLUTION TO PARTNER WITH OTHER INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES TO <br /> PURSUE AND SHOW SUPPORT IN PURSUIT OF A GRANT TO IMPROVE WATER <br /> QUALITY IN THE LONG LAKE CREEK SUBWATERSHED BY STUDYING THE IMPACT <br /> OF CARP <br /> WHEREAS,The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency(MPCA)completed the Upper <br /> Minnehaha Creek Watershed Nutrient and Bacterial TMDL Study in March 2014; and <br /> WHEREAS,The Upper Minnehaha Creek Watershed Nutrient and Bacterial TMDL Study <br /> addresses nutrient impairments and nutrient budgets in the distinct hydraulic basin referred as the"Upper <br /> Watershed"of the Minnehaha Creek including; and <br /> WHEREAS,The Tanager Lake Subwatershed, also known as the Long Lake Creek <br /> Subwatershed, is located in the Upper Minnehaha Creek Watershed and includes Long Lake Creek and 6 <br /> impaired lakes within the City of Long Lake,City of Medina, and City of Orono; and <br /> WHEREAS,Total Maximum Daily Load(TMDL)allocations have been established for City of <br /> Long Lake,City of Medina, City of Orono,Hennepin County,and the Minnesota Department of <br /> Transportation(MnDOT); and <br /> WHEREAS,The City of Orono is required to show progress towards meeting the established <br /> TMDL allocation; and <br /> WHEREAS, Grants are available to support municipality and partnership projects to improve <br /> surface water quality in the State of Minnesota; and <br /> WHEREAS,Partnering with other intergovernmental agencies in pursuing these grants for the <br /> Long Lake Subwatershed may result in a more organized and effective effort to improve water quality in <br /> the Long Lake Subwatershed. <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of Orono,Minnesota <br /> that the City Council does hereby partner with other intergovernmental agencies to pursue a grant for the <br /> Study of the impact of Carp on the Long Lake Creek Sub-watershed. <br />
