The
map indicates thait the area near your residence is classified as an Orono protected wetland,
subject to Section, 10.55 of the Municipal Ordinance.
Both maps type Ole area as "Pa" which is peaty muck. From the aerial photograph the area
was calculated as Approximately 4.0 acres in size.
According to the soil survey, page 133, these types of soil are "very poorly drained, sandy to
loamy, and organic, and subject to ponding . . . the water table is near the surface much of
the year . . . pea muck soils have severe limitations for foundations. Foundations in many
places must be pl ced on pilings. Organic material should be completely removed before fill
is added . . . fill material is placed over organic material near foundations resting on
pilings, sidewalks and entrys to shopping centers may settle and draw away from foundations."
Based on my review of these materials, any work proposed within 26' of the wetland would
require City approval.
Should you decideo proceed with your project, you would need to provide a certified survey
with the wetland delineated by a professional wetland delineator.
Sincerely,
Li1-2,\\C --
Liz VanZomeren
LVZ/jlg
Enc:
Telephone (612) 473-7357 • FAX 473-0510
