Wetland Delineation Report
Dave Harmann Site
GES Project No. 20124)5
April 27, 2012
Vasilias, G. . Hurt and C.V. Noble (eds.). USDA, NRCS, in cooperation with the
National Tec nical Committee for Hydric Soils).
Results
The delineatwetland is associated with a very small drainage channel which
had approxi ately three inches of water in it and was not flowing on the day of
observance. Offsite to the north, the wetland transitions into a larger cattail
marsh. Offs' a to the south, the wetland also transitions into a cattail marsh. The
wetland on t e property is characterized as a forested wetland. Specifically, we
would classify the on-site wetland as follows:
Cowardin Circular 39 Eggers/Reed
PFO1 C(Seasonally Flooded Deciduous Type 1 Floodplain forest(3A)
Forested)
Data was collected at two transects (see Figure 3 for locations). Transect 1 was
on the east side of the wetland and Transect 2 was on the west side.
Transect 1
Dominant vegetation in the wetland at Transect 1 consists of eastern cottonwood
(Populus deltoides), common buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica) and reed canary
grass (Phalaris arundinacea). Dominant vegetation in the upland consists of
Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis).
Soils in the wetland at Transect 1 are described as 10YR 2/1 mucky silt loam.
Upland soils are described as 10YR 2/1 sandy loam with 10YR 4/4 mottles
starting at 12 inches below the surface. The upland immediately adjacent to the
wetland consists of mowed turf on a gentle slope.
Hydrology in icators in the wetland include surface water, a high water table,
saturation, g omorphic position and the FAC-neutral test. The upland did not
meet any by rology indicators.
Transect 2
Dominant vras
station in the wetland at Transect 2 consists of green ash (Fraxinus
pennsylvanic ), black willow(Salix nigra), reed canary grass, Kentucky bluegrass
and Canada oldenrod (Solidago canadensis). Dominant vegetation in the
upland consi is of red cedar(Juniperus virginiana), box elder(Acer negundo),
green ash, a d Kentucky bluegrass.
Soils in the w tland at Transect 2 are described as 10YR 2/1 mucky clay loam.
Upland soils re described as 10YR 2/2 sandy loam over 10YR 2/1 clay loam.
