Poly-Vinyl Chloride: "PVC"pipe and fittings shall conform to the requirements of ASTM <br /> D3034 and SDR 26 specifications. Pipe shall have gasketed joints. <br /> 2.2 SEWER STRUCTURES: • <br /> A. General: Construct structures using precast reinforced concrete to the maximum extent <br /> possible in combination with cement,mortar,gaskets,precast adjusting rings,castings, <br /> and steps as necessary to complete the structure. Segmental blocks are allowed if use of <br /> precast sections is not feasible. <br /> B. Concrete: Concrete shall have a minimum compressive strength of 3000 psi at 28 days <br /> age and have air content of five to seven percent by volume of concrete.Reference <br /> Division 3 of the specifications for further requirements. <br /> C. Mortar: Mortar for connections to other drainage structures, and between adjusting rings, <br /> or block construction shall conform to ASTM C 270,Type M,except the maximum <br /> placement time shall be one hour. <br /> 1. The quantity of water in the mixture shall be sufficient to produce a stiff workable <br /> mortar but in no case shall exceed 5.0 gallons of water per sack of cement. Water <br /> shall be clean and free of harmful acids,alkalies,and organic impurities. The mortar <br /> shall be used within 30 minutes after the ingredients are mixed with water. <br /> D. Precast Reinforced Concrete Manholes: Shall conform to ASTM C 478 or AASHTO <br /> M199. Joints between precast concrete risers and tops joints shall be made with flexible <br /> watertight,rubber-type gaskets. <br /> E. Precast Concrete Segmental Blocks: Shall conform to ASTM C 139,not more than eight <br /> inches thick,not less than 8" long, and of such shape that joints can be sealed effectively <br /> and bonded with cement mortar. When segmental blocks or adjusting rings are used,both <br /> inside and outside of the structure shall be plastered with mortar. <br /> F. Adjusting Rings: Shall be precast and reinforced.
