PROFESSIONAL RESUME OF JOSEPH MURPHY <br />Joseph Murphy graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in <br />Government and International Studies, and graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota <br />Law School. During law school, he worked at the Minnesota State Public Defender's appellate <br />office and at a law firm specializing in class action litigation. <br />After law school, Mr. Murphy worked as a law clerk with Anoka County District Court <br />Judge Donald Venne, who is now retired. In 2002, Mr. Murphy joined Sweeney, Borer & Sweeney <br />(later Sweeney, Murphy & Sweeney) where he worked primarily in the areas of criminal <br />prosecution and municipal law. Mr. Murphy represented a number of municipalities in Anoka <br />County and Ramsey County and has extensive experience trying cases, litigating contested <br />hearings, and arguing cases at the Minnesota Court of Appeals. <br />Mr. Murphy joined Carson, Clelland & Schreder in 2015 and works with the firm's <br />municipal clients in criminal and civil matters and assists private clients in criminal defense and <br />family law matters. <br />PROFESSIONAL RESUME OF DAWN SPELTZ <br />Dawn Speltz, graduated cum laude from St. Olaf College with a joint degree in Economics <br />and Political Science, and graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in <br />2005. While in law school Ms. Speltz participated in the Journal of Law and Inequality as well as <br />the Child Advocacy Clinic. Ms. Speltz joined the firm in 2003 as a Law Clerk, working primarily <br />in the fields of criminal and family law. Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Speltz joined the <br />firm as a full-time attorney. Ms. Speltz practices in the field of criminal prosecution and works as <br />a liaison with the police departments and community development departments, to keep them <br />apprised of new legislation and changes to the criminal court system. Ms. Speltz has previously <br />served as the secretary of the Anoka County Prosecutors' Association, and works closely with that <br />association and Court Administration to address the continually evolving changes that are facing <br />the budget -stressed Court system.
