Work Session
Exhibit C
July 20, 2019
To Orono City Council
From Mike and Rachel Feldmann, 1010 Old Long Lake Rd
Jane Davidson and Francis Kulacki, 1020 Old Long Lake Rd
Mary Claire Owen, 1030 Old Long Lake Rd
This note is a follow up to a personal meeting with Mayor Walsh regarding the
CSAH 112 Phase II project plan, specifically the design of the driveway serving our
properties. There are two documents. The first reprinted here are verbatim
comments from our comments to the Long Lake City Council on July 18, 2017.
The only additional item that we add is a note that drawings of driveway options
prepared by the County indicate an incorrect width of our driveway. The County
has confirmed the measurements were incorrect but have not yet provided
corrected drawings.
The second document is an overview with a list of questions provided in written
form to the Long Lake City Council.
We would like to share our unanimous view of options for the driveway to our
homes at the intersection of County Rd 112 and Old Long Lake as proposed for
the CSAH 112 Phase II project.
After hearing the discussion at the July 5 Long Lake City Council meeting, Jane and
Frank reached out to the owners of 1010, 1030, and 1070 Old Long Lake Rd to
discuss our views of the driveway. The owner of record of 1070 Old Long Lake Rd
did not respond.
In a meeting on July 13, we discussed the options presented previously by the
County as well as the option presented at the July 5 Long Lake City Council
meeting. In our discussions, we considered the views presented by the Long Lake
City council and county as well as our concerns for public safety, cost of
maintenance and convenience for the affected homeowners, aesthetics and
potential legal issues that arise from sharing a roadbed.
There have been three driveway plans presented to us by the county and one
presented at the July 5 Long Lake City Council meeting.
