ITEM 4 - WORK SESSION <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: ORONO CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: JESSICA LOFTUS, CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br />SUBJECT: PROSECUTING ATTORNEY <br />DATE: JANUARY 23, 2017 <br />Last March the City council advertised a prosecuting attorney Request for Proposals (RFP). <br />Four (4) submittals were received and on June 27Th the City Council interviewed four firms: <br />• Carson, Clelland & Schreder <br />• Kenneth Potts, P.A. <br />• Gregerson, Rosow, Johnson & Nilan, Ltd. <br />• Tallen and Baertschi <br />On July 11th the City Council made a motion selecting Kenneth Potts for Prosecuting Attorney <br />Services and approved an Agreement for Legal Services on August 22, 2016. <br />Most recently on January 9`'', Mayor Walsh requested to reconsider the top two firms for <br />prosecuting attorney from last year's RFP by inviting them to another interview with the City <br />Council. Ken Potts is available to interview on February 13`' but was unavailable on January 23' <br />with only 11 days' notice. Steve Tallen will be attending this meeting to interview. The proposals <br />received by both firms in June of last year are attached. <br />The draft of potential interview questions is attached from the previous round. Staff would add the <br />question; "What do you consider to be the ideal transition timeline (given the court calendar)?" <br />
