1.04 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION ' <br /> A. Fire protection system is a "Wet-Pipe" system employing automatic sprinklers attached to a piping system <br /> containing water and connected to a water supply so that water discharges immediately from sprinklers opened by <br /> fire. <br /> 1.05 WORK SCOPE <br /> A. Describe Work Scope for each project. <br /> 1.06 SUBMITTALS <br /> A. Upon substantial completion of the piping layout and hydraulic calculations,submit a reproducible drawing and one <br /> set of prints and calculations to the Engineer for review prior to completing the submittal. The Engineer will review <br /> the piping layout and return a print marked to show changes required before the final submittal is made. <br /> B. The final shop drawing submittal shall be in accordance with the UBC and shall include full size drawings of the <br /> complete piping and head layout indicating sprinkler zones, area hazard ratings, piping material, head types and <br /> method of hanging,hydraulic calculations for each zone, all product data, and welders certificates. The hydraulic <br /> calculations must prove the remote area for each zone. Submit supplemental calculations for all non-typical areas. <br /> C. Upon completion of the shop drawings, submit to the reviewing agencies for approval. The reviewing authorities , <br /> may include the following: <br /> 1. State Fire Marshall 11 <br /> 2. City/Local Fire Marshall <br /> 3. Health and Building Department <br /> D. Submit one set of shop drawings to the Owner's insurance carrier. <br /> E. Submit seven(7)copies of the shop drawing submittal to the Engineer. Two(2)of the seven(7)copies submitted <br /> shall be stamped"approved"by each of the reviewing agencies. "Approved"copies submitted shall include copies <br /> of the agencies reviewer comments. <br /> F. The drawings must be stamped and signed by a Professional Engineer registered in the State of Minnesota. , <br /> G. Upon substantial completion of the project, submit contract closeout submittals to include two sets of as-builts <br /> drawings,operating and maintenance manuals,as-built hydraulic calculations,and"Material and Test Certificates" <br /> for above and below ground piping. <br /> H. As built hydraulic calculations must be submitted to prove remote area criteria is met with all included field <br /> modifications. , <br /> 1.07 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. Installer Qualifications: Installation and alterations of fire protection piping, equipment, specialties, and ' <br /> accessories, and repair and servicing of equipment shall be performed only by a qualified installer. The term <br /> qualified means experienced in such work(experienced shall mean having a minimum of 5 previous projects similar <br /> in size and scope of this project),familiar with all precautions required,and has complied with all the requirements <br /> of the authority having jurisdiction. Upon request,submit evidence of such qualifications to the Architect. Refer to <br /> Division 15 Section: "Reference Standards and Definitions"for definitions for"Installers". <br /> B. Qualifications for Welding Processes and Operators: Comply with the requirements of AWS D10.9, <br /> "Specifications for Qualifications of Welding Procedures and Welders for Piping and Tubing,Level AR-3." <br /> 15300-2 No.99132-CP2 ' <br />
