1 ORDLNANCE NO. ,THIRD SERIES <br /> 2 <br /> 3 CITY OF ORONO <br /> 4 HENNEPIN COUNTY,MINNESOTA <br /> 5 <br /> 6 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORONO MUNICIPAL ZONING CODE <br /> 7 BY ADDING ARTICLE XIV REGARDING INTERIM USES <br /> 8 <br /> 9 <br /> 10 THE CITY COUNCIL OF ORONO ORDAINS: <br /> 11 <br /> 12 SECTION 1. Chapter 78—Zoning Regulations is hereby amended by adding Article XIV— <br /> 13 Interim Uses to read as follows: <br /> 14 <br /> 15 ARTICLE XIV—INTERIM USES <br /> 16 <br /> 17 DIVISION 1 —GENERALLY <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Secs. 78-1725--78-1749.—Reserved. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 DIVISION 2. -PERMIT <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Sec.78-1725.—Definition, Purpose and Intent. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 (a) Definition. An interim use is a temporary use of property until a particular date,until the <br /> 26 occurrence of a particular event,or until zoning regulations no longer permit it. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 (b)Purpose and intent. Because of their unusual characteristics,interim uses require <br /> 29 consideration so that they may be located and regulated properly with respect to the <br /> 30 objectives of this chapter and the Comprehensive Plan,and with respect to their impacts <br /> 31 on surrounding properties. In order to achieve these purposes,the City Council is is <br /> 32 empowered to grant and to deny applications for interim use permits and to impose <br /> 33 reasonable conditions upon the granting of these permits. Additionally,the intent of <br /> 34 allowing interim uses is: <br /> 35 <br /> 36 1. To allow a use for a brief period of time until a permanent location is obtained or <br /> 37 while the permanent location is under construction. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 2. To allow a use that is presently judged acceptable by the City Council,but that <br /> 40 with anticipated development or redevelopment,will not be acceptable in the <br /> 41 future or will be replaced in the future by a permitted or conditional use allowed <br /> 42 within the respective zoning district. <br /> 43 <br /> Page 1 of 4 <br />
