j
Marr.,, 21, 19211 A
To. Thomas J. Jacobs
Building Official
City of clrono
From: Dennis Meyei l Z
4731 Northshore Dr.
Mound MN. 55364
,
A
Dear Mr. Jocobs,
After our conversation in November I acquired a copy of the relevant
plat map. I also had set up a tentative date with someone experienced with,
shooting the elevations that you said would be required- Bad weather on
that day resulted in a cancellation of our appointment. I was planning to
reschedule for the following week, but a family emergency prevented doing
that. The week after that, snow arrived heralding the beginning of winter
weather. In my estimation the snow cover would prevent taking accurate
elevation shots of the parking lot. I have not forgotten about our
agreement and was ready to reschedule this effort when our last snow
arrived. This snow is almost gone and I will schedule the elevation shots
as soon as possible. I will then submit a plan for regrading.
wSince I do not know how quickly I can get the assistance I need to
comalete these plans in a presentable manner, I do not know if I can meet
your April 6th. deadline, but i should be able to finalize the plans by May I.
I will keep you informed of the progress as each step is accomplished.
Executing this plan doec- not mean that I agree with the Idea that the
additional fill added to my parking lot three years ago created a drainage
problem. The problem is a road drainage arobiem accentuated by a poorly
designed drainage system that does not have a catch basin at the lowest
point on the road, inadequate capacity of the storm drain, and efforts
taken uphill such as berms put up at the entrance of driveways to prevent
b rainage off the road and down these driveways. The drainage problem has
a!vvay existed at the point that the overflow occurred last July, but the
rainfall was never that plentiful before. About two thirds of the parkin-1
Int was put in under city & county contract after the storm drain was
replaced, to replace the p,,r,-Jng lot that was bulld,,sed down to provide
access of equipment for the installation of the current dram. The eievaw.,
of the gutter at the road edge was put in by the county to match the height
of the road shoulder and the park!^g lot that was out in as part of to s
project This is a signifigant portion of the parking lot that is now judge.
as being too high.
l hope these plans will be acceptable, and I apoligise for not keeping
you informed of my progress.
Sincerely, X9 n
y"Q • l%mac./
c.c.
