The support posts were made from two 2x6's hap-hazardly fastened together.
Joists were improperly attached to the house with joist hangers. Stair opening is too
narrow to meet code.No flashing Vvas installed at the house which has been left open
to water damage for years.A nail gun was used to nail decking which allows water
into the wood causing rot and also leaves a jagged edge which is hazardous to bare
feet. Decking was left incomplete with no guardrails and is considered a hazard.
• Patio Doors-Doors were replaced with very low quality doors that move in the ha.ck
over 1" which allows wind and rain into the home.
Roofing - Roofing and flashing were poorly done allowing leaks throughout the
home. The leaks have caused damage to sheet rock, insulation and possibly the
framing. Personal items through out the house have also been damaged. There is a
mildew smell that permeates the entire home.
• Sots-A previous Orono Building Inspector(Bruce Vang)informed the contractor
that he wanted to see soffit construction prior to closing them up,an inspection was
not called for. Portions of the soffit aze falling off at this time. The soffits were left
unpainted and unprotected.
• Electrical-Electrical boxes on the exterior of the home have been left open allowing
water into the home.Numerous circuits have been shorted out from water infiltration.
Telephone(952)249-4600 • Fax(952)249-4616
www.ci.orono.mn.us
