If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Christine Mattson
Melanie,
I have reviewed the proposed changes and still have concerns the volume of water will be increasing toward the
neighboring properties. In order to determine if what they are proposing is increasing the volume of water, they can
have the surveyor provide an existing drainage calculation and proposed drainage calculation. The information I need is:
• Area of existing hardcover and green space draining to neighboring properties(split into area draining east and
area draining west).
• Area of proposed hardcover and green area draining to neighboring properties(split into area draining east and
area draining west).
The calculation should also be accompanied by a map or existing drainage area and another map of proposed drainage
area. I am still concerned with the amount of water being directed toward the neighboring properties.
Jesse Struve, PE
Director of Public Works/City Engineer
City of Orono
(952) 249-4661- Direct
(952) 249-4616- Fax
www.ci.orono.mn.us
From: Jesse Struve
Sent: Thursday, May 16, 2013 1:50 PM
To: Melanie Curtis
Cc: Christine Mattson
Subject: 20130516 4395 North Shore Dr 2013-00317
I have reviewed the permit for a new house and have the following concerns:
• The proposed grading is directing water at the neighboring property to the west. This will increase the water
being directed toward this property and the grading should be altered to manage the water on their property.
Maybe there is a way to redirect water from the roof away from the neighboring property.
• There is a contour which appears to be mislabeled (967) but should be (957).
Jesse Struve, PE
Director of Public Works/City Engineer
City of Orono
1
