Christine Mattson
From: Jesse Struve
Sent: Tuesday, May 28, 2013 4:49 PM
To: 'David Crook'; Melanie Curtis; Christine Mattson
Subject: RE: Lecy 4395 North Shore Dr.
David,
I like the additional grading which is being proposed, but I really need to see the drainage areas existing and proposed.
If I had the capability to do this, I certainly would, but unfortunately I don't have the ability to do this even if you sent
me the drawing (I don't have a CAD program).
This could be done very quickly(without much additional cost) by using your CAD to quickly delineate the drainage areas
existing and proposed to the neighboring lots. I can't quite do it with the existing survey because it gets a bit cluttered
for me to clearly see the existing contours, but you can turn off the proposed layers and do this relatively quick.
You can then quickly calculate the areas. Since I am ultimately the one who signs off on the permit and I cannot allow
additional runoff from being directed toward the neighboring properties, I really do need to see how much water was
being directed to each neighbor.
Feel free to give me a call and we can discuss or I can clarify what I need.
lesse Struve, PE
Director of Public Works/City Engineer
City of Orono
(952) 249-4661- Direct
(952) 249-4616- Fax
www.ci.orono.mn.us
From: David Crook [mailto:decCaqwestoffice.net]
Sent: Tuesday, May 28, 2013 9:59 AM
To: Melanie Curtis; Christine Mattson
Cc: Jesse Struve
Subject: Lecy 4395 North Shore Dr.
Melanie,
Attached you will find our revised copy of the subject survey. I spoke with Mark Lecy and he is definitely interested in
avoiding increased drainage to the neighbors. The proposed retaining walls, additional walk-out grading, rain gutter
configuration
(for gradual dissipation and absorption) and revised swale have been added to address those concerns. Additionally,
Mark actually
recommended the berm as an extra barrier. I also believe this additional measure is tailor made for the situation with Mark
assuring that
a working, functional berm will be constructed.
The builder and homeowner are hopeful that the measures are satisfactory and that the expense of additional
engineering studies
can be avoided.
David E. Crook, PS
Demars-Gabriel Land Surveyors, Inc.
i
