Christine Mattson
From: Jack Distel <Jdistel@minnehahacreek.org>
Sent: Thursday, December 14, 2017 10:07 AM
To: Melanie Curtis; Christine Mattson
Subject: FW: MCWD 17-529: 1020 Mooney Lake Drive, Orono
Attachments: 17-529 MCWD Incomplete Letter(3).pdf
Hello Christine and Melanie,
Below you will find an email I sent to the applicants for the 1020 Mooney Lake Drive property. With this update we are
still regarding the permit as inadequate to issue. I just spoke with Mr. Mark Gronberg and he is working to draft the
detail of the drain tile in the east rain garden. There is risk that adding drain tile will not work as the water table is so
high. We will see what comes back our way.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Good day,
Attached you should find an incomplete letter detailing updates needed to verify the functionality of the east
raingarden. Here is a summary of the needs:
1. Provide a detail for the layout of the drain tile to be installed at the east rain garden:
a. The drain tile should be installed with at least 12"of cover/filtration media above it.
b. To allow for adequate conveyance of water the drain tile should not be installed within the range
of the wet/mottled soils. These were found to exist at this location at the 991.5'elevation.
Once this detail is submitted it will be reviewed as quickly as possible and if deemed adequate MCWD will be able to
begin moving to the issuance stage of the permit. If the detail is found to be inadequate we should work as quickly as
possible to adjust plans in order to reach a consensus. Thank you very much for working with us so prudently and
patiently throughout this process. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Best regards,
Jack Distel
District Representative
Minnehaha Creek Watershed District
15320 Minnetonka BLVD
Minnetonka, MN 55345
952-641-4581
