A sign supported by a post or posts so that the sign and supports are <br />finished to grade by encasing the posts in a material consistent with the sign and <br />where the base width dimension is a minimum of ten percent up to and including 50 <br />percent of the greatest width of the sign. <br />(11) Monument signs. One monument sign, limited to two faces is allowed per <br />frontage per property, with a maximum of two. The areas of sign base, the supporting <br />background structure, and the sign copy shall be combined for determining the total <br />square footage and the height of the monument sign. <br />a. The total allowable square footage shall not exceed 100 square feet per side. <br />The base and supporting material shall constitute at least 25 percent of the total <br />square footage. <br />b. The base width dimension is 50 percent or more of the greatest width of the <br />sign. <br />c. The sign copy area shall have a minimum clearance of 20 inches above ground <br />level. <br />d. The sign copy area shall be completely enclosed within the monument <br />materials. <br />e. No portion of the sign or sign structure shall exceed ten feet above ground <br />level. <br />f. The monument sign base shall be constructed of materials similar in <br />appearance to those of the principal structure and shall consist of brick, natural <br />stone, stucco, textured cast stone, or integrally colored concrete masonry units. <br />The structure surrounding the face of the sign from the base to the top of the sign <br />must be solid, continuous, and consist of the base materials or complementary <br />materials that match the appearance and color of the principal building. <br />g. The 200 square feet of ground area around the base of the monument sign <br />shall be landscaped with shrubs or perennials. <br />78-1468 regulates signage relating to a specific zone: <br />B-3 and l: height. "Within any e-3 or I district, no sign shall extend in height more than six feet <br />in height above the highest outside wall or parapet of any principal building.
