10/0/2003 13:10 FA% 8905889 INSTANT TESTING/ALLIED C002
.
IT INSTANT TESTING COMPANY
 C0 7125 126tl'Avenue•Savage, Minnesota 55378
7elephone:95290-7366 Fax85Z 890-5883
Field Inspection Report
Clierrt Name: John Jones 8Charlotte
Family Residence Date of Inspections: October 1, 2003
Site Location: 3490 North Shore Drive Time: 9:00 AM 83:00 PM
 Orono, Minnesota
Field Observations :
(1) At the above address in Orono our site soil inspetions and evaluations of the foundation soils
began in August developing a design that would be acceptable considering the high water table,
thesand mixed with some silty soils and the need for stabilizing rock near the water surtace. It so
happened that one of the first test pits (excavations}was in one of the weakest soil areas on site.
Based on this wet silty material an elaborate system of rock, fabric and compacted sand as
proposed for the footing system. This concep#was set aside when more extensive excavating and
surveying rvealed sounder soil at the actual footing depths and a water table that would be vary
from 4'be/vw the foofing fop to 1'above the foofing elevation.
(2) The key elements of the foundation system selected and installed were:
1. Stabilizing the base with 1 1/2" rock(12"to 24'' deep).
 2. Covering rock with sand compacted to grade.
3. Two #5 nsbar in bottom 3" of concrete footing.
4. Load beang walls aie only on the perimeter, a stnrctural floor will be instaNed.
(3) Two final inspections were conducted on October 1, 2003. In the aftemoon we were joined by
Bruce from the Inspections Office in Orono. On a joint trip around the site, one area about 4' in
footing length and one foot wide was discovered to have no rock on the inside half of the footing
forms_ On the inside some organic clays and silty soils were uncovered by stabilizing rock. These
areas will be conditioned fio the status of the other 98 of the project before proceeding.
(4) This excavation and foundation seils system is quibe suitable for constrution of the
proposed structure.
