For residences hereafter constructed , the <br /> driveway approach and that part of the driveway and turnarounds <br /> which drain to the public �road shall be paved with bituminous <br /> concrete blacktop or equivalent paving. Where it has been <br /> determined by the City's Public Works Director that an existing <br /> driveway and/or driveway approach is causing a maintenance problem <br /> on the public road, inciuding, but not iimited to, the washing of <br /> dirt and gravei into the public road, the Public Works Director <br /> shall order that the property owner pave such portion of the <br /> driveway and/or driveway approach as is necessary to remove the <br /> maintenance problem. Portland cement concrete will only be ailowed <br /> from the driveway up to the public right-of-way. This requirement <br /> shall not be construed to reduce paving otherwise required by <br /> performance standards in the Zoning Code or required as a condition <br /> to the granting of a Conditional Use Permit, Iot division , <br /> subdivision or as designated in the approved site plan. <br /> G. Driveway turnarounds shail be required on ali <br /> driveways or driveway approaches entering onto a State highway, <br /> County road or coilector roadway as determined in the Comprehensive <br /> Plan, and on a1Z entrances to public roads within the City where <br /> deemed necessary by the Public Works Director, based on traffic <br /> counts, sight distances, street grades and other relevant factors. <br /> If a driveway turnaround is required by the Public Works Director, <br /> such requirement shall be stated on any permit issued by him or her <br /> pursuant to this ordinance. <br /> Subd. 10 . Business Driveways , Approaches and <br /> Turnarounds. <br /> A. Only one business driveway shail be ai Iowed per <br /> deveiopment unl.ess a greater number of driveways are approved by <br /> the City, or approved as part of the site plan review. The <br /> business driveway approach shail not exceed the width of the access <br /> road or 32 feet at the property Iine, whichever is Iess in a <br /> business or industrial district. The curb cut shall not exceed the <br /> width of the driveway approach at the property Iine by more than 20 <br /> feet unless approved as part of a site pian. In a residential <br /> district, the curb cut shal i not exceed the width of the driveway <br /> approach at the property line by more than 10 feet unless approved <br /> as part of the site plan. <br /> B. AlI. business driveways and driveway approaches <br /> shall be paved with asphaltic concrete or equivalent material. <br /> Portland cement concrete will only be allowed outside of the public <br /> road right-of-way. <br /> C. Loading docks, ramps and vehicular entrances <br /> sha11 be Zocated in such a manner that backing onto and maneuvering <br /> within the pubiic road right-of-way is eliminated and in such a <br /> manner that driveways greater in width than that specified by this <br /> chapter shall not be required. <br /> ORONO CC 141-3 (7-25-88 ) <br />
