���p CITY OF ORONO <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> y� Gti NO. �i � 7 /1 <br /> �qx�sx0�-`` <br /> A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY OF ORONO KEEPING ITS OPEN <br /> SPACES, PLAYGROUNDS, PARKS,AND TRAILS IN PERPETUITY <br /> WHEREAS, Open Spaces, Playgrounds, Parks and Trails are critical to our quality of <br /> life; and <br /> WHEREAS, Open Spaces, Playgrounds, Parks, and Trails bolster our recreation; and <br /> WHEREAS, quality and well-maintained Open Spaces, Playgrounds, Parks, and Trails <br /> enhance our personal health, community pride, and sense of place, including neighborhoods; and <br /> WHEREAS, a group of citizen volunteers has worked tirelessly and for many years on <br /> behalf of all residents in the City of Orono, actively engaging hundreds of individuals and groups <br /> in conversation regarding the needs and opportunities of the Open Spaces, Playgrounds, Parks, <br /> and Trails systems; and <br /> WHEREAS, thousands of residents over the years have participated in and supported <br /> adoption of the City of Orono Comprehensive Plan and citizen survey, and all these plans and <br /> efforts support enhancing and keeping Open Spaces, Playgrounds, Parks, and Trails in <br /> perpetuity; and <br /> WHEREAS, Open Spaces, Parks, Playgrounds, and Trails are identified as one of the <br /> best investments citizens and cities can make in their children as playgrounds provide children <br /> critical unstructured, outdoor, creative and active play; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orono City Council wishes to support the Open Spaces, Playgrounds, <br /> Parks, and Trails to provide the many benefits to local residents in perpetuity. <br /> THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that the Mayor and City Council of the City of Orono <br /> adopt this resolution in support of the Open Spaces, Playgrounds, Parks, and Trails to be kept in <br /> perpetuity. <br /> Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono this 13�'day of November, 2017. <br /> Dennis Walsh, Mayor <br /> ST: <br /> Anna Carlson, City C1Erk <br />
