Where dampers separate outdoors from indoors, they shall meet the following <br /> � standards: Use no damper blade that is wider than 6 inches. Construct damper <br /> frames from at least 16 gauge, hot dipped galvanized steel. Fit each blade with <br /> double sided, inflatable, field replaceable, extruded vinyl edge seals that lock into <br /> � slots in the blade. Size each blade to fit tightly between flexible, compressible, <br /> metal jamb seals. Set nylon bearings in stainless steel sleeves. Use hexagonal <br /> shafts for positive blade control. Conceal damper linkage inside the frames and <br /> out of the air stream. The entire assembly shall not rattle or vibrate. A closed <br /> � damper shall not leak more than 6 SCFM per square foot of face area when tested <br /> in accordance with AMCA Standard 500 for a damper selected at 2000 FPM and <br /> tested at 4 inches of water column pressure across the face. <br /> � J. Fire Dampers <br /> l. Furnish and install fire dampers where shown on drawings and in all code <br /> required places even if not shown on the drawings. Generally all ducts that <br /> � penetrate the mechanical room walls, floors, corridor walls or entering attics <br /> require fire dampers. Fire dampers and frames shall be constructed in accordance <br /> with Underwriters Standards with UL label and shall be complete with fusible <br /> � links. The entire assembly and installation shall comply with the requirements of <br /> NFPA#90A and authorities having jurisdiction. <br /> 2. Mount dampers within 16 gauge sleeves, which are to be held in place with <br /> � retaining angles. <br /> 3. Dampers shall be Prefco, Low Profile "B", or Standard Type "B", Ruskin, <br /> American Warming, or approved equal, folding blade type, rated for a minimum <br /> of 1 1/2 hour protection. Dampers shall allow for nominal 100% free area when <br /> � in the open position.
