SECTION 16112 � <br /> NM&NMC CABLE <br /> ' <br /> 1.00 GENERAL <br /> A. NM & NMC Cable may be used in lieu of conduit and wire where allowed by the � <br /> National Electric Code(NEC)and/or approved by the local electrical inspector. <br /> B. Conductors shall be a minimum of #14 AWG with a maximum of #2 AWG. All , <br /> conductors shall be 98% copper, with one bare conductor for grounding purposes <br /> only. Grounding conductor shall conform to Article 250 of the National Electric Code. <br /> C. All cable shall be manufactured with a distinctive marking on the exterior for its entire � <br /> length. This marking shall clearly specify the cable type with an "LS" suffix to identify <br /> Low Smoke rated cable. , <br /> D. Cable shall be installed through or parallel to studs, joists and rafters. Holes shall be <br /> drilled in the center of studs or joists wherever possible. Where not possible to drill in <br /> the center of studs or joists, a protective plate, such as Noer's "Safety Plate", shall be � <br /> installed to protect the cable from nails or screws. These holes shall be considered as <br /> cable supports. <br /> E. Support all cables with straps, cable ties or staples specifically designed for this ' <br /> purpose. Installation shall not cut or damage cable in any way. All damaged cable <br /> shall be immediately removed and replaced with new. Cable shall be supported within � <br /> 12" of each box, cabinet or fitting at intervals of 41/2 feet. <br /> F. A minimum of 6" of wire shall be exposed beyond the face of each device or j-box for <br /> terminations and/or device installation. Splice all ground wires per NEC. � <br /> G. Where required, cable or box connectors shall be two screw, strap type, specifically <br /> manufactured for connection NM or NMC cable to panels, cabinets or j-boxes. � <br /> H.
