On the 23" shakes <br /> no feathertips would b� allowed. On the 24" full length, 1" is <br /> allowed. Feathertips did exceed the 1°` allowed <br /> 3. Blow outs (holes in shingles) were found in every bundle looked at <br /> 4 . Sapwood - was over 1/8" permitted on edges. Some exceeded 2-3" <br /> This was found in almost all of the bundles <br /> 5. Flat grain exceeded the lOg allowed and was found in almost all <br /> of the bundles <br /> 6 . Thin edges - approximately 7� of each bundle inspected <br /> It was determined with the above findings that the shakes were adjudged <br /> off-grade because the total lineal inches of defective shakes exceeded <br /> 7� of the total lineal inches.
