Studies have
shown that sediments, oils, and debris carried into the lake from hihly urbanized areas have
a detrimental impact on the qualiry of water in the lake. The intent of Orono's ordinance is to
ensure that rainfall run-off will be cleansed by filtering through arassed or vegetated yard areas
before entering the lake.
Hardcover Zones - Allowed Percentages:
0-7 0`o
75-250' 25 0
250-500' 00
500-1000' 5
Hardcover includes:
- Roofs
- Sidewalks
- Paved or aravel driveways
- Paios & decks (includes slatted decks)
- Tops of retainui walls & rock walls
- Decorative landscape areas underlain by plastic sheeting or fabric
- Any other surface that does not allow direct absorption of rainfall into
the round
L\STRUCTIOi'S FOR COl1PLETLtiG HARDCOVER C,I.CULATIO':\T WORKSHEET
1.
