§ 10.56 <br /> ' ,� F. Stairways, Lifts and Landings. Stairways and lifts aze the preferred <br /> altemative to major topographic alterations for achieving access up and dotirn bluffs and steep slopes <br /> _ to shore areas.Stairways,lifts and landings shall be allowed in the shore setback zone and must meet <br /> the following design requirements: <br /> �= 1. Stairways and lifts must not exceed 4 feet in«-idth. <br /> -�- 2. Landings for stairways and lifts shall not exceed 32 squaze feet in <br /> azea. <br /> 3. Canopies or roofs are not allowed on stairways,lifts, or landinas. <br /> _ . 4. Stairways,lifts and landings may be either constructed above the <br /> - ground on posts or pilings or placed into the ground, provided they are desi�ned and built in a <br /> '� manner that ensures control of soil erosion. <br /> - 5. Stairways,lifts and landings must be located in the most visually <br /> inconspicuous portions of lots, as viewed from the surface of the public �vater assuming summer, <br /> leaf-on conditions,whenever practical. <br /> 6. Facilities necessary to provide shore azea access to physically <br /> handicapped persons shall be allowed provided that the dimensional and performance standazds of <br /> subitems 1 -5 are completed in addition to the requirements of the Minnesota Re;ulations, Chapter <br /> 1340. <br /> 7. A building pernut shall be obtained for construcdon of stairways, <br /> lifts and landings regardless of whether such improvements aze conshucted abo�•e,at or below grade. <br /> G. Steep Slopes. Any applicant requesting a permit for construction of <br /> sewage treatment systems,roads,driveways,structures,or other improvements on steep slopes,shall <br /> provide adequate information to allow the City to evaluate possible soil erosion impacts and <br /> development of visibility from public'waters before such permit may be issued. W1ien determined <br /> necessary, conditions shall be attached to issued permits to prevent erosion and preserve existing <br /> vegetation screening of structures,vehicles,and other facilities as viewed from the surface of public <br /> waters, assuming summer, leaf-on vegetation. <br /> � H. Height of Structures.No structure within the Shoreland Overlay District <br /> shall exceed the height limitations set forth in the standards for the underlying zoning district. <br /> ORONO CC 376-13 (2-24-92) <br />
