The internal pipe shall be adcquately supported throughout the eatire length of the carrier pipe. The end openings shall be gcnutod andJor brickod shut. Prior to pulling,the fused pipe shall not impede any walkway or roadway facilities. The cutter head shall be sizcd as elose as poss'ble to the diameter o;f the outer pipe to avoid excessive voids sunownding t'�e bored hole. The borcd hole ahall be reinfarced with a bentonito slurry. The contractor shall limit the amotmt of slurry utilized to perform th�boring operation. Al�exccssivc slurry shall be vacuumed from tho bo�ro pits. Any slurry that cxtrud�s through thc pavcment or sidevvalk surfaccs shall immediately be removed. JrlCKING: A casing pipe is required on all jacking insta)lations,unless a certified MnDOT"jacking", reinforced concrete pipe is utilized for stonn drainage applications. MnDOT Spocification No.2501.3C1 shall govern placemem. The augct shall not cxtend subataatially beyond the casing pipe. Th�casing shall be fillcd with sand or pea rock and the ends shall be grouted and/or bricked shut BORE/JACKING PITS: The pit shall be locabed a minimum of 5 feet from the back of curb in au urbt�n aroa or at least 10 feet from the neareat c�ige of thc tr�volcd lane in a rural arca. All pits shall bc protcct¢d wich cight onm�c"snow"fence,flashers,barrcls,Jersey barrier,sheeting,cribbing.ctc.or as rcquired by Hennepin County. Thc contractor shall take every precaution feasible to protect their open excavations at all times. Whcnever possible,the excavation shall be back�lled and properly compaeted at the canclusion af lh.e work shifl. No excavation shall be made in advance Qf the actual work within the e�ccavation.
