I also received a copy of the fax with the
certification. The certification addresses my original Items 1 &2. Item 3 is not required per IBC Section 1804,
specifically Table 1804.2.
Please have the Building Inspector verify the soils meet IBC Section 1804 once the wall is excavated.
If there are any questions, please give me a call.
Thanks,
Matt
Matthew D.Jensen, P.E.
Bonestroo Rosene Anderlik&Associates,Inc.
2335 West Highway 36 St.Paul,MN 55113
Phone: (651)604-4835
Fax: (651)636-1311
Cell: (651)775-5639
From: Melanie Curtis [mailto:MCurtis@ci.orono.mn.us]
Sent: Wednesday, June 28, 2006 2:09 PM
To: ]ensen, Matthew D
Subject: RE: 2545 North Shore Drive Retaining Wall - Review for Code Compliance
Hi Matt—I assume by now the engineer has called you regarding these plans. He faxed me something with a
signature on it... did you receive this too? Also will you please update me as to whether or not his questions
about the geotechnical engineering met your specifications...? Thanks, Melanie
-----Oiginal Message-----
From: Jensen, Matthew D [mailto:mattjensen@bonestroo.com]
Sent: Monday, June 26, 2006 6:01 PM
To: Melanie Curtis
Cc: Kellogg,Tom P
Subject: 2545 North Shore Drive Retaining Wall - Review for Code Compliance
Melanie,
I have reviewed the permit application for the above referenced address to construct a retaining wall on
the property. Using the International Building Code (2000), the submittal should contain the following
revisions or additional information:
1. The submittal should provide construction plans showing plans, elevations, sections, details, and
specifications signed by a registered professional engineer.
2. The wall design needs to be signed by a registered professional engineer.
3. The soil bearing capacity is assumed. This assumption should be verified by a geotechnical
engineer.
6/29/2006
