Melanie Curtis
_L;= ? ,r'( `'rC r.
From: Melanie Curtis
Sent: Wednesday, June 15, 2011 2:21 PM
To: 'Roxanne Heaton'
Subject: Parking Lot
Attachments: Zoning Permit Application.pdf
Roxanne
Regarding your call yesterday about paving the parking lot areas, I have a couple questions:
1. Will your contractor need to bring in any sub-grade or base material? Or will the existing gravel on site be
sufficient?
2. Are you planning to pave only the current existing gravel parking areas? From our conversation I understood that
no new parking or hardcover areas are intended to be created, is this correct?
Please see the attached Zoning Permit application. There is a permit requirement for a driveway which includes minor
land alteration. I know your project is a little bit larger in scope than a simple driveway but I feel it is the appropriate
mechanism for the City to approve your project. You will need to provide a plan and/or written detail which should
include a calculation for the amount of material to be brought to the site. If you are disturbing new areas erosion control
may be necessary as will the erosion control escrow (the escrow agreement is page 3 of the Zoning Permit application).
Lastly, I encourage you to contact Luke Schweitzer with the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District at 952-641-4505
regarding any permitting requirement they may impose.
Please contact me if you have any additional questions.
Melanie
Melanie Curtis
Planning & Zoning Coordinator
City of Orono
2750 Kelley Parkway
Orono, MN 55356
Direct Dial: 952.249.4627
Fax: 952.249.4616
Planning &Zoning Office 952.249.4620
Email: mcurtis@,ci.orono.mn.us
Website: www.ci.orono.mn.us
Summer Office Hours (Monday, May 23rd to Friday, September 2nd)
Monday - Thursday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
Friday 7:30 am to 11:30 am
1
