new building as a portion of the existing building during construction. I believe this is allowed in
the Building code in Section 503.3.
To recap the other issues we discussed during the meeting on the Sth Oct. 2000.
The Art Center will be a mixed use occupancy. It will include a Group E occupancy for the
classroom areas, Group A.3 for the exhibit and dining areas, and Group B for the 2nd floor office
area.
There will be a Hallway running from the front entry North to the Classroom area, then running
East West to connect the Classroom areas. This can be a Hallway, not a corridor, because all of
the classrooms exit directly onto grade ;and the entire building will have an automatic sprinkler
system.
The areas which will need one hour separations will be:
around the Mechanical rooms, the elevator shaft, and the exit corridor on the north side of the
Dining room. (In addition to the Sculpture Room covered above).
The mechanical system is a heat pump system. The chiller will be in the cooling tower and the
make up air handlers will sit on the roof where they are required. The air handling units will be
in the spaces where they are required.
The building will be clad with galvanized wall panels, exterior steel panels, and an exterior wood
composite paneling.
The roof will predominantly be a flat roof with a 1/4" per foot slope. The roof will drain through
scuppers and downspouts. The other areas of the roof will be a galvanized standing seam roof.
Lyle will review the drawings further, and review them with the Fire Marshal. We will schedule
another meeting to review further developments, and as the design of the building progresses.
This information represents our understanding of the discussion that took place at the referenced meeting.
Please contact me with additions or changes within 10 days of receipt of these minutes.
Prepared by
Patrick Regan
James Dayton Design LTD.
