.
Opening young minds -
_ .
to their full pcatentiaL + ' .
, -, ,
,! .l: r'
- -
  ~

August 27, 2008
Mr. William Meyer, Fire Marshal
City of Orono
2750 Kelley Parkway
Orono, NIN 55356
Dear Mr. Meyer,
I am writing on behalf of Hill School to ask for an extension to our deadline af 9/1/08 for
installing an above ground water supply tank to be connected to our existing fire sprinkler
system. As we discussed on Monday, we are receiving several bids from contractors and are in
the process of finalizing specific details so that we can make an immediate decision and move
forward. As I indicated, it is our desire to bring in an acceptable tank(s) in pieces for onsite
assembly so that we minimize construction damage to our 1892 building.
It is our hope to have this project underway as soon as feasibly pssible. We have been instructed
by a couple of contractors that our water supply will more than likely be interrupted for
installation of the tank(s). As such, if this is required, we are hoping that we can undertake this
project either during our fall break(October 16-17) when students are not in the building or at
the very latest, over the Thanksgivg break(November 24-28).
Again, I would like to offer my sincere apologies on behalf of Hill School for the delays in this
project. As I mentioned, I am brand new with Hill School, as is our Board of Directors. We want
to convey to you that this project is at the top of our priority list and we are deeply sorry for the
attention it has not received in the past.
If an extension to our deadline is acceptable, we would appreciate a note in writing to that affect.
We will keep you informed every step of the way as to where we are in ihe process. In addition,
we have been and will be requiring potential contractors to contact you directly to ensure that
their proposed technology recommendations meet your approval prior to advancing in the
permitting process.
Should you have any questions, please call me at anytime to discuss. My cell hone is 952-270-
2759. In addition, Jim Theisen, a Hill School parer.t and an experienced professional in the
construction industry is helping to manage this project. His cell phone is 651-i43-3695.
HILL SCHOOL 1 tel: 952-475-3107
2180 North Shore Drive fax: 952-475-286?_
Wayzata, MN 55391 email: info@hillschoolmn.org
