<br /> Subd. i. Type of data. 'Ihe righrs of individua!on whom�e dara is sinr=3 or co be stored shall be as set foeth in this secaon.
<br /> Subd.2. Information reqirired to be given individual. An ir.dividual asked to supply private or confidendal data concerning himself shall
<br /> be informed of: (a)the purpose and inrended use of the cequesud dara wi�ia the collccring§tate agency,poliacal subdivision,or statewide sysum;
<br /> (b)whaher he may refuse oY is legally requiced co supply the requested dari:(c)aay l�owa consequence arising from his supplyiag or refusing to supply
<br /> privace or confidenaal data;and(d)the idendry of o�her pecsoas or enrides ac�horiz�by sute or federal law to receive the data..This requ'uemen[shall
<br /> not apply whzn an individuai is asked to supply invescgadve data,pursu�t co s�caoa 13.82,subdivision 5,to a law enforcement officer.

<br /> Subd.3. Access to data by indi�iduai. Upon request to a rezgonsible aechoriry,an individual shall be informed whe[her he is the subject
<br /> of s[ored data on individuals,and whether it is classifted as public,privac:or canfidecrial. Upon lus further request,an individual who is the subjecc
<br /> of score,i private or public data on individuals shall be shown che dara wi.;.ouc any c'nar3e to him and;if he desires,shall be informed of the content
<br /> and meaning of chac data. Aftec an indi�iidual has been shown ehe priva�2a�and iniormed of its meaning,the data need not be disclosed to him for
<br /> six monehs chereafter unless a dispute or acaon pursuanc to this secdon is t::diag or addidonal data on the individual has been collecced or creaced.
<br /> The responsible auchoriry shall provide copies of[he private or public dara n.on r.qua:by che individual subjecc of the data. The responsible authoriry
<br /> may require[he requesting person to pay che actual coscs of making,ce.^:;ir.3,az:d compiling the copies.
<br /> The responsible auchoriry shall comply immediacely,if possibl=,wi�any request made pursuant to ehis subdivision,or within five days of
<br /> the date of che request,ezcluding Saturdays,Sundays and legal holidays,if ir�diate comptiance is not possible. If he cannot comply with the requesc
<br /> wichin that time,he shall so inform the individual,and may have an addicoaal five days wichin which to compiy with the request,eacluding Saturdays,
<br /> Sundays and legal holidays.
<br /> Subd.4. Procedure when data is not accurate or complete. ?.n icdivitual may contest the accuracy or completeness of public or private
<br /> dara conceming himself. To exercise[his righc,an individual shall nodfy ia wriring�e responsible authoriry describing�he nature of the disagreemenc.
<br /> The responsibte auchoriry shall wichin 30 days ei[her: (a)correct the daci fcuzd ro be inaccurete or incomplete and aaempt to nodfy past recipienrs of
<br /> inaccurate or incomplete data, including recipiencs named by the individi�aI:or(b)coafy the individual that he believes the dara to be cocrect. Data
<br /> in dispu�e shall be disclosed only if che individual's statement of disagrr_�eac is i^.cl•i3ed with[he disclosed dara. .
<br /> The decerminarion of che responsible auchoriry may be appealed Fursuanc to the provisions of the administrarive procedure act reladng to
<br /> contaced cases. .
