A summary of the inspection <br /> is below. <br /> Septic Tank Condition <br /> 1. Pumpout needed when septic tanks become full <br /> The septic system is non-compliant because it is failing by visibly discharging untreated sewage to the <br /> surface. This is considered to be an imminent public health threat. This dischazge could have adverse <br /> effects to the environment including contamination of your well or neighboring wells. City Code <br /> requires that the system be repaired or replaced within 90 days upon the date of this letter. The septic <br /> tanks must be used as holding tanks and pumped when full so as not to dischazge untreated sewage to <br /> the surface. The septic system must be repaired or replaced by October 3,2000. <br /> Enclosed is a list of state licensed septic contractors who regulazly work in Orono. Also enclosed is a <br /> fact sheet explaining how a septic system functions.
