S stem O eration: Descri tion of Treatment Process
 • Primary Treahnent- Septic Tanks
Wastewater gravity flows from the house into a 1,500 gallon septic tank. Gravity
flow continues to a second 1,000 gallon septic tank. Within the first tank the
sewage separates into three distinct zones: a scum layer, a sludge layer, and a
clear layer. Liquid from the center or the clear zone of the first tank flows into the
second tank. Additional settling occurs in the second septic tank with a less
pronounced sepazation into three zones.
 • Final Treatment and Dispersal—Mound Drain Field
Effluent from the second septic tank will gravity flow to a 1,000 gallon lift tank.
Effluent will be screened for additional solids removal by passing through an
effluent filter prior to discharging to the mound drain field through a high head
turbine pump. The effluent is dispersed into the mound through a pressured lateral
piping network. As the effluent trickles down into the sand and underlying soil
aerobic biochemical processes remove viruses and bacteria.
.,
 Installation Details
1.
