MATTHEW HEMSLEY FIELD REVIEW
Field Review
Wetland 1: Wetland 1 is a Type 3/4, PEM1C/PABG, Shallow Marsh/Deep Marsh wetland that is
hydrologically connected to Lake Minnetonka to the south. Overall, the wetland vegetation is dominated by
hybrid cattail(Tyoha X g/auca), reed canary grass(Pha/aris arundinacea),and lake sedge(Carex/acustris).
The underlying soils are mapped as Muskego, Blue Earth, and Houghton soils. The investigated soil profiles
met the 2 cm Muck (A10) and Loamy Gleyed Matrix (F2)) hydric soil indicators. Hydrology indicators
observed include a high water table at 4 inches (C2), geomorphic position (D2), and the FAC-Neutral Test
(D5).
The upland buffer surrounding the wetland at the front of the property is a manicured lawn primarily vegetated
with Kentucky bluegrass (Poa prafensis) crab grass (Digitaria longiflora) and the transition between the
upland and the wetland is composed of gentle to moderate slopes. The upland buffer surrounding the
wetland at back of the property is dominated by American Elm (U/mus Americana), eastern cottonwood
(Popu/us de/toides) and common buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica) and the transition between the upland
and the wetland is composed of moderate to steep slopes.
WETLAND ASSESSMENT
649 FERNDALE RD
ORONO,MN
APRIL 2017
