Also present: City <br /> Administrator Benson, Public Works Coordinator <br /> Gerhardson, Norman Paurus, William Van Nest, City <br /> Attorney Malkerson, and Ruth Lange , reporter. <br /> i�'i�.;:��:_E� =': :�.�_,� Wastewater Dick Benson, City Administrator, commented that the <br /> � . t ';,J_ant Metropolitan Waste Control Commission is chairing a <br /> t�ublic hearing on November 17 , 1983 at 7 : 30 P .M. at <br /> the Maple Plain City Hall to receive comments concernina <br /> the proposed closing of the Maple Plain Sewage Treatment <br /> Plant and an interceptor constructed through the City <br /> of Orono to the City of Long Lake . It is now time for <br /> the City Council to review its position to be tak�n <br /> before the hearing process and also recent action to <br /> appear before the Minnesota Po.Ilution Control Agency <br /> Board. <br /> Brad Van Nest, Council appointed representative to <br /> represent the City concerning the Maple Plain Treatment <br /> matter, reviewed with the City Council concerns the <br /> City previously documented regarding alternatives to <br /> an interceptor being forced through an environmentally <br /> sensitive area of Orono, which would encourage densities <br /> detrimental to the quality of storm water runoff . <br /> The City Council reaffirmed its position to request <br /> alternatives to an interceptor . <br /> Bruce D. Malkerson, City Attorney, reviewed a draft of <br /> a letter to Sandra Gardebring, Executive Director of <br /> the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, reviewing City <br /> concerns with the proposed Maple Plain interceptor <br /> outlining alternatives to its construction. The intent. <br /> of the letter is to request the matter be entered on - <br /> the next MPCA Board agenda for a City pres�ntation. <br /> Mayor Butler moved, Councilmember Adams , second�ed to <br /> approve the letter to the Minnesota Pollution Control <br /> Agency as amended supporting documented policy and facts <br /> requesting alternatives to an interceptor . Motion, <br /> Ayes (5) - Nays (0 ) . <br /> AIa:��'u�;�IM�'NT Mayor Butler moved, Councilmember Frahm seconded, that <br /> the meeting be adjourned at 7 :00 P .M.
