Mayor VanNest <br /> asked John Gerhardson , Public Works if this <br /> was feasible and John stated it was . <br /> Mayor VanNest moved, Paurus seconded that if <br /> this project was ordered the City would <br /> accept the staff recommendations of asses:�ing <br /> 5 units that would include the 25 , 000 sq. ft. <br /> Kovac/Johnson site and it would declare the <br /> Crooker lot to be unbuildable. <br /> Motion : Ayes (4) Nays (0) <br /> Mayor VanNest explained the reason the eost WILLOW DRIVE CLOSURE <br /> of the cul-de-sacs was only $3 ,550. 00 was <br /> because that most of the shoulder existed <br /> and the city labor was $550. 00. <br /> He also stated that the city had traffic <br /> counts that were taken again at the request <br /> of the last meeting. The counts were taken <br /> on the 30th of April through the lowest spot <br /> on Willow just south of Fox Street, there werP <br /> 213 cars c locked on that day. There v�ere 3 g <br /> cars clocked on Shevlin going up into Webber <br /> Hills. And on the other end of Willow Drive <br /> cominq onto County 146 there were 315 cars. <br /> The tWo entrances gainq into Webber Hills from <br /> Fox St. there was 111 cars , from County 146 <br /> there was 198 cars . There were approximately <br /> 1500 cars on County Road 146 . We clocked <br /> exactly 1470 right out on Willow Dr. , and <br /> clocked 1527 just south of Fox St. on Brown <br /> Road and clocked 1609 cars just north of Fox <br /> St. on Brown Rd. Fox St. generally looks <br /> like 500 cars going through. <br /> Fox St. just west of Willow Dr, had 590 cars <br /> and there were 504 goinq north on Willow north <br /> of Fox St. . It looked at this time somewhat <br /> consistent as to what counts we had before. <br /> Mayor VanNest asked for any comments and Mrs . <br /> S.G. McWilliams asked that the council think <br /> about thejoggers and bicyclist that use that <br /> road to get to the Luce Line. <br /> She says she just cannot understand why the <br /> city is even thinking about closing this <br /> road. Mayor VanNest explained that a lot <br /> of thinking has gone into this and our popula-- <br /> tion is going to grow in Orono, and to the <br /> communities west of Orono, and the city knows <br /> as time goes on there will be more people <br /> usinq these roads . <br />
