REGULAR "liEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, FEBRUr�RY 23 , 1981 Page 38 Paurus moved, Butler seconded, to appoint Mayor Van APPOINTMENTS Nest and Councilmembers Butler and Hannah to form a Council/School Board liaison committee with the Orono School Board per City Administrator ' s letter to William Fenholt dated February 17 , 1981 . Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0 ) . Butler moved, Mayor Van Nest seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION #1252 Resoluti.on #1252 , A Resolution To Amend Resolution Park Fund #675 Establishing A Park Fund. Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0 ) . Bruce Malkerson, City Attorney, reviewed with the NAVARRE PARKING LOT City Council the following letter concerriing the registration of Langdon Park Townsite , Navarre parking lot, dated February 25 , 1981 which states : "Enclosed please find a memorandum to me from Jim Steilen of our office dated February 16 , 1981, concerning his conference with Richard Edblom, the Examiner of Titles regarding the registration of the Townsite of Langdon Park which includes the municipal parking lot. I have reviewed this information with you generally at the City Council meeting of February 23 , 1981 . This will confirm my understanding that the City Council wishes us to proceed with further investigation and to take what action is necessary in order to ensure tha1� the City ' s interests are protected. This matter will be handled primarily by Jim Steilen of our office since he is more of an expert than I in the area. of land title registrations, legal descriptions, etc . Of course , I will be involved in the overall direction of the review and any negotiations. Once we finish the preliminary investigation, we will contact the present property owner to see whether or not that property owner would be willing to relinquish control of the parking lot to the City instead of having the property tied up in title objections and possible litigation for an extended period of time . " End of letter Paurus moved , Butler seconded, that the City of Orono will not vacate its interest in the alley at the Navarre parking lot since it has been documented it has been maintained for public uses and is a deeded property to the City of Orono.
