I am unable to be present <br /> at the meeting, but I do wish to repeat one point which <br /> again perhaps has not been mentioned for some time. <br /> The area through which the proposed sewer would pass along <br /> North Shore Drive is at the edge of the wetland area formed <br /> by French Lake, and the pipe will pass through part of that <br /> wetland. Although the part on our side of the road is par- <br /> tially dammed from the other portion of the area by the road <br /> itself, and although the wetlands may not be cansidered. of <br /> great natural beauty by themselves , they do add considerably <br /> to the enjoyment of the area in which we all live because of <br /> the variety of birds, such as heror., bittern, pheasant, geese, <br /> ducks of various kinds, red-wing blackbirds, and even because <br /> of various small animals which live around it. Moreover, they <br /> contribute to the openness and general charm of the area. <br /> Although there are a number of such areas in Orono, they are <br /> not too numerous in the metropolitan area as a whole. Damage <br /> to even part of the system damages the whole. <br /> Considering the fact that the installation of the sewer can at <br /> the very best only be marginally justified on the basis of <br /> possible future need, it seems that you should consider the <br />
